Dr.  David Anthony Clarke, Sr. – Senior Pastor

 

Dr. David Anthony Clarke, Sr. was born in Flint, Michigan on July 5, 1967 and began preaching in 1990 while on active duty with the United States Marines. He has served in numerous capacities in various churches across the country and Japan. He has served as the Senior Pastor of the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Warner Robins, GA, also known as “The Grove Zone”, since October of 2002. Pastor Clarke has served the congregation as pastor longer than any other in Union Grove’s 130+ year history.  

Under his dynamic, visionary leadership at Union Grove, the membership has increased to nearly 700 members. Dr. Clarke has licensed over 20 ministers, ordained seven, and ordained nine deacons during his tenure at Union Grove. The full-time and part-time staff has expanded, numerous other leaders have been elevated, and several exciting life-changing ministries have been implemented. The church has acquired additional residential and commercial properties to provide temporary housing to homeless families and host special events to impact the church and community.

 

 

A powerful speaker, Dr. Clarke has provided motivational speeches and/or spiritual support for several organizations to include the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Christian Business Network, Georgia Dept of Labor, Georgia Department of Corrections, City of Warner Robins, Albany State University, Ft. Valley State University, Johnson C. Smith University, and numerous civic groups. Clarke preaches regularly in local prisons, and has ministered in Japan, Haiti, and West Africa.  The Georgia Informer has repeatedly recognized Dr. Clarke as one of Houston County’s most outstanding preachers. In 2005, the Ross Report Partners in Progress of Atlanta, GA honored him as Man of the Year. In August 2015, Dr. Clarke delivered the commencement address for Virginia College’s graduation commencement exercises.

 

Active in the community, Clarke served as president of the Warner Robins Power Networkers and currently serves on the board of directors for Family Promise, which is a network of churches providing temporary shelter for homeless families. Dr. Clarke is also a member of the Warner Robins Rotary Club. From fall 2012 to spring 2016, Dr. Clarke served as an adjunct professor at THE Ft. Valley State University in Ft. Valley, GA where he taught Leadership, Organizational Theory & Behavior, International Management, and Business Communications courses.

 

In 2001, Dr. Clarke and his lovely wife, Michelle, organized Clarkehouse Ministries to empower leaders to maximize their personal and organizational potential to the glory of God. He travels extensively conducting retreats and seminars on leadership, strategic planning, personal development, and performance improvement. Dr. Clarke has published two books, Starting Over: Five Keys To A New Direction In Life and Are There Any Questions?: Living and Leading with an Inquisitive Spirit. Clarke has also written several book reviews for the National Baptist Voice magazine. His writing has been featured in forbes.com, churchleaders.com, and changeyourgamebealeader.com. Clarke’s third book, Narcissism: The Pastor’s Secret Weapon to Combat Burnout, will be published in the summer of 2019.

 Dr. Clarke received an Associate of Science degree in Business from Barstow Community College of Barstow, California in 1998.  In January of 2005, he graduated from Bellevue University of Bellevue, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and received his Master of Science in Organizational Performance in March 2011. Pastor Clarke received his Doctor of Ministry from the Minnesota Graduate School of Theology/Georgia Bible College in June 2018. His dissertation presented narcissism as a necessary component for pastoral wellness and longevity.

 Dr. and Mrs. Clarke have three, plus two, wonderful adult children: Janelle, Tenisha (Rubin), and David, II (Megann).
